CREATION OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS FOR MUNICIPALITIES TO BE A PARAMETER OF DEMOCRACY
On February 6, Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov met delegation of the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities and Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities, Azerbaijans Ministry of Justice press service reported.
Noting the development of municipalities in the country, being a parameter of democracy at a local level, Minister of Justice said that national associations of city, rural and settlement municipalities have been set up in Azerbaijan.
He expressed gratitude to the Congress and the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities for their  assistance in this field.
He underlined that at the session of board of the Ministry of Justice taken place on January 31 of this year, the decision was accepted on the state registration of recently established associations of municipalities.
Expressing satisfaction with the work carried out by Azerbaijan on development of local self-governing, the guests noted the value of creation of municipalities national associations.
 They emphasized that it serves expansion of the on-going democratic processes in the country.
At the meeting, the concrete questions, concerning institute of municipality, including function and direction of activity of municipalities national associations were discussed, and comprehensive exchange of opinions was conducted on prospects of cooperation.
Minister of Justice with the participation of guests presented certificates to heads of national associations of city, settlement and rural municipalities in Azerbaijan on the state registration of associations.
