AZERBAIJANI JUSTICE MINISTER MEETS WITH SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR OF UN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Azerbaijans Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov met Thursday with Ambeyi Ligabo, Rapporteur of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights on the right to freedom of opinion and expression.
Minister Mammadov spoke of democratic reforms conducted in Azerbaijan, and marked the importance of projects aimed at providing human rights, including freedom of opinion and expression, in the country.
 All necessary conditions for providing human rights and freedom of opinion and information have been created in the country. Mass media and public organizations freely carry out their activities, the Minister underlined.
The Special Rapporteur Ambeyi Ligabo, who has got his university degree in Azerbaijan, said he was amazed at great changes he eye witnessed in Azerbaijan.
He praised the Azerbaijani governments policy towards providing freedom of opinion and expression, and welcomed simplified regulations for establishment of newspapers in the country.
Fikrat Mammadov and Ambeyi Ligabo also discussed a wide range of other issues including court decisions, journalists responsibilities, freedom of information, and others.
