THE LEGAL COOPERATION BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND AUSTRIA IS SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPING
Mrs. Brigette Birlein, Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Austria met with Mr. Fikrat Mammadov, Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council of Azerbaijan on April 19th, in the course of her visit to our country.
Minister warmly welcomed the guest and underlined successful development of the relations and intensification of the cooperation in the legal field between our countries as well as stressed the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Cooperation Program, signed during mutual visits of the Justice Ministers. He was very delighted to recall fruitful cooperation with Mrs. Birlein in the Executive Committee of the International Association of Prosecutors, her active participation at the meeting of Executive Committee held in Baku in 2002 and their meeting during his visit to Austria.
During the talks held in a very sincere atmosphere, the guest was widely informed about the measures on strengthening of the efficiency of justice, modernisation of judiciary and development of the justice authorities following to the instructions of the President Ilham Aliyev.
Noting Azerbaijans rapid development in economic and other spheres, significant innovations in judicial and justice fields, Mrs. Birlein expressed her great impressions about the changes taken place in our country, as well as construction and renovation works in the last 5 years, since her first visit. She also underlined that successful steps towards reforms have served to the forming of a firm judiciary and development of democracy. The guest specifically  noted the significance of selection of candidates to judicial posts on the basis of transparent procedures, which had met the international standards. She also mentioned that Austria attaches utmost importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan and cooperation in the judicial sphere.
Strengthening of relations between judicial and justice bodies, development of cooperation and development of exchange of experience were discussed at the meeting as well.
After that the guest visited Heydar Aliyev Museum and the Museum of Justice History at the Ministry.
