JUSTICE MINISTER MEETS WITH HEAD OF OSCE OFFICE
Azerbaijan Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov met Tuesday with Head of the OSCE Office in Baku, Ambassador Jose-Luis Herrero, according to the Ministrys press service.
 Speaking of progressive changes occurring in Azerbaijan, Minister Mammadov provided Ambassador Herrero with detailed information on the measures being undertaken in the country towards improvement of national law, development of democratic institutions and modernization of judicial system.
Touching upon the human rights issue, especially in relations to convicts, he pointed to the concrete steps taken to encourage the reforms in penal system and enhance public control over their implementation. The Minister especially stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with authoritative international organizations such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
 Ambassador Herrero praised the legal reforms being carried out in Azerbaijan, including the idea of public control over penal system. He shared his views on the ways to expand cooperation in this area.
Education of judges, state population register, registration of corporate entities, improvement of the institute of lawyers and other issues were also discussed during the meeting.
