AZERBAIJAN JUSTICE MINISTER MEETS CO-CHAIR OF EU INTERPARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON COOPERATION WITH SOUTH CAUCASUS
Azerbaijan`s Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov met Thursday with Co-Chair of the European Union`s (EU) Interparliamentary Committee on Cooperation with South Caucasus Mrs. Marie Anne Isler Beguin and her accompanying delegation.
The Azerbaijani Minister informed the EU delegation about democratic and judicial reforms conducted in Azerbaijan.
He spoke of what has been done in his country to strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms.
Mammadov said Azerbaijan is successfully cooperating with international organizations, including the European Union.
Marie Anne Isler Beguin said the eighth meeting of the European Unions Southern Caucasus Inter-Parliamentary Committee held at the Milli Majlis was a success.
The meeting also discussed freedom of press and speech in Azerbaijan.
Following the meeting, the EU delegation visited several penitentiary facilities.
