PACE MONITORING COMMITTEE CO-RAPPORTEURS ON AZERBAIJAN MEET AZERBAIJAN’S JUSTICE MINISTER
Visiting PACE Monitoring Committee Co-Rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and Evguenia Jivkova May 19 met with Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan Fikrat Mammadov.
The Azerbaijani Minister told of improving judicial system and penitentiary service in the country, increasing the quality of medical service rendering to prisoners and their custody conditions, building new detention facilities.
Expressing satisfaction with the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, the co-rapporteurs emphasized the importance of expanding mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe.
The meeting also exchanged views on human rights protection, treatment of prisoners, freedom of conscience and regarding improving legislation.
